My parents recently found writings and poetry that my brother Pat had done in high school. I want to post one everyday for a while because I find them so encouraging and profound. Pat was fourteen and about to enter high school the next fall when John was murdered. I think these writings are evidence of how much John’s death not only impacted our lives but our faith.
Someday
I admit, life is tough
At times I feel I’ve had enough
My heart yearns for Jesus’ face,
Oh, to reach those golden heaven gates.
When I get there I will embrace
My Savior, My God, my King
I will bow down and sing
Glorious praises to my King
With me singing, I will see
My brother John sitting next to me
Oh how I long to see his face smiling back at mine
Someday, Someday, I will be present in paradise
I will hear the flapping of angel’s wings
That sound like a soft breeze on a summer day
Someday, Someday
Here on earth, I drown in my own tears
And bury myself in my own fears
In these times, just call out to God
He will surround you
He will wrap His arms around you
So therefore, do not lose hope
But put your hope in the Lord
Remember, someday, someday
WE WILL BE IN PARADISE!
